Sizing is not standard across brands — a Kingz A2 fits differently from a Bad Boy A2 — so check the individual size charts and account for shrinkage in the first few washes. Training once a week? The Fabric Guide: Choosing Your Weave

Not all BJJ Gi's are built equal. The "GSM" (Grams per Square Metre) and the weave style determine how the fabric behaves under stress. When browsing our BJJ Gi online range, look for these three distinct categories:

The Lightweight Scrapper (350 - 400 GSM)

Ideal for the Australian summer or making weight at a tournament. These Jiu Jitsu Gi's are usually Pearl Weave, offering a soft feel that dries quickly but is easier for your opponent to manipulate.

The All-Rounder (450 - 550 GSM)

The "Daily Driver" for most practitioners. These BJJ Gi's offer a thicker collar and reinforced seams, providing the durability needed for 4-5 sessions a week without feeling like a heavy carpet.

The Competition Shield (550+ GSM)

Built for maximum grip-breaking. These are often Gold or Double Weave designs. They are harder for your opponent to hold onto but can be significantly warmer during intense rounds.

Frequently asked questions

If you plan to compete, your Jiu Jitsu Gi's sleeves must reach no further than 5cm from your wrist when your arms are extended. The jacket must also reach the thighs, and the belt should be tied with a proper knot. When you buy BJJ Gi gear from us, we can help ensure your selection meets these specific tournament requirements.

Even "pre-shrunk" cotton will react to heat. To maintain the life and fit of your BJJ Gi, always wash in cold water and hang dry in the shade. Never use a dryer, as the intense heat can warp the EVA foam lapel and shorten the sleeves by several centimetres.

Most premium BJJ Gi's are sold as a jacket and pants set only. Because BJJ is a ranking-based sport, belts are usually purchased separately to match your specific grade. You can find our full range of belts elsewhere on the site.

BJJ Gi sizing uses an "A" (Adult) scale. For example, an A2 generally fits someone between 170cm–183cm and 75kg–88kg. However, every brand cuts their fabric differently. We recommend checking the specific size chart on the product page before you confirm your order.
