Muay Thai Head Guards
Head guards designed specifically for Muay Thai training and sparring. Unlike boxing headgear which prioritises cheek and temple protection from punches, Muay Thai head guards need to handle elbows, knees, and occasional kicks while keeping your peripheral vision open.
Key differences from standard boxing headgear: lighter overall weight (you are already wearing shin guards and gloves — every gram counts), open-face designs that do not obstruct downward vision (critical for checking kicks and seeing low strikes), and ventilation cuts that keep you cooler through longer sparring rounds. Most Muay Thai head guards use a combination of synthetic leather outer and multi-layer foam with a velcro closure at the back.
Brands to look at: Fairtex, Twins, and Top King — the three Thai brands that dominate Muay Thai protective gear. Sizing is generally one-size-fits-most with adjustable straps, but check individual product pages for fit notes.
